Rail

As a RISQS qualified supplier Structural Soils has wide ranging experience working within the rail infrastructure and providing high quality, cost effective ground investigations in this difficult environment.

PTS Trained Staff at Work

Staff with Network Rail Sentinel PTS qualifications, we are able to react at short notice to provide a wide range of ground investigation techniques to the rail industry, including window sampling, cable percussive drilling, rotary drilling, ABS, in-situ site testing and engineering supervision.

Our experience ranges from small works, such as providing labour or drilling crews for day works.  Up to large scale projects, such as major track / station remodelling or large re–signalling projects, where we can provide guidance on suitable ground investigation techniques and efficiently deliver the investigation.  We have worked on much of the rail environment, including stations, trackside, tunnels, viaducts and on lines with both over head electrification and in third rail areas.

Our in house laboratories mean we can also carry out both geotechnical and contamination testing, including the specific suites required by Network Rail.

Our clients for rail projects include small consultancies up to large main contractors, requiring us to provide a more comprehensive service, including Work Package Plans and Task Briefings Sheets.  The majority of our rail work is carried out on a subcontract basis for large consultancies with dedicated rail teams, who appreciate our flexibility, ability to mobilise at short notice and the professional high quality staff we provide.
