- HEAD OFFICE -

On the 1st of December 2000 Structural Soils moved into new head office incorporating offices, laboratories and workshops.

It is situated in Bedminster, Bristol not far from the famous St Mary Redcliffe church.

The building was purpose built as a school in 1895 and being designed by W. V. Gough is a Grade II listed building. In more recent times it formed part of St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School who continued to use it until 1989. Since then it fell into a state of disrepair, but a refurbishement contract was completed to convert it to suit our requirements.

This included the conversion of the ground floor into a soils laboratory and the space available gives room for considerable expansion. The effective stress testing facility is particulary well equipped with 17 triaxial points and room to expand to over 30 points. This facility also handles triaxial cell permeability testing.

The first floor now provides offices for all the engineering and administrative staff. The addition of data cabling means that extensive database, e-mail and internet resources are available at everyone's fingertips.
