- COMPANY OVERVIEW -Structural Soils Limited is a British company established in 1964 as a site investigation contractor. Based in Bristol, with a branch office in Castleford near Leeds, the company operates throughout the United Kingdom and has also undertaken overseas contracts. The company is part of the RSK Group of Companies (www.rsk.co.uk). With over 40 years experience the company has an impressive list of clients including consulting engineers, architects, local and statutory authorities, government bodies, limited companies and private individuals. The company has a turnover of about £8 m and a staff of about 130, such that contracts of all sizes can be undertaken. The company's experience provides a sound knowledge of all aspects of geotechnical engineering and the staff are always ready to give advice. As the company operates various drilling rigs and associated equipment, an investigation can normally be designed to suit the client's requirement and obtain information in the most efficient manner. Samples are tested in the company's own well equipped laboratories. Both the Bristol and Hemel Hempstead laboratories hold UKAS accreditation (testing no 1774. and 2652) and the Castleford laboratory is working towards UKAS accreditation by the end of April 2008. The technical staff are highly qualified and include civil and structural engineers, geologists, engineering geologists and chemists who prepare both factual and interpretive reports in accordance with the client's requirements. We operate an accredited integrated Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Management System in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001.
Health and Safety is taken very seriously at Structural Soils with our staff undergoing regular H&S training and almost all site staff are now CSCS accredited.
We are corporate members of the Association of Geotechnical and Geo-environmental Specialists (AGS) and the British Drilling Association (BDA). Where appropriate, drilling crews hold CSCS accreditation in Land Drilling. Many staff also possess Personal Track Safety (PTS) training for working on railways.
